Surprise surprise, I’m not fired (yet)
April 7, 2009
Let’s say the past couple of weeks have been rather epic in regards to my work. So I manage to miss like 3 staff trainings because the first time I was in Cuba (I promise I will write about that), the second time I needed to go to volunteering since I already missed a week and the third time I was at another staff training (which i couldn’t miss since I missed the first one while in cuba). That said, I was fully expecting to be fired this week after my lovely confrontation last week with my supervisor’s supervisor who was like “you should have told me that you wouldn’t be able to compromise because everybody else has…” and crap like that. Well… I didn’t get fired. I’d like to say that I got three requests for me (makes me really proud) and I saved someone today by sacrificing myself to the cold. Not actually that dramatic but still epic. For some reason, one of the subs for today had a diabetes issue so I had to go save her by running to the grad common room (in my towel and bathing suit) and taking the short cut back through the blizzard outside. Then I had to take over her class. Not gonna lie, ’twas very difficult to teach a level 4 and level 8 and level 9 at the same time but I’m not going to let the supervisor steal my high level class (mainly cuz I didn’t want to get into the water). All the same, I think I should totally get instructor of the month for my courage and outstanding amazingness. Also, I haven’t gotten my contract yet… I need that to get paid >.<.
Also, at the other place I work at, I got offered like 2 hours of privates. AMAZING. I’m so excited… that so good. I love privates (so much easier to teach) and I get paid more. And now I get to die after 9 hours of work instead of 7. So pumped.
Also, volunteering. I’m so screwed. I keep showing up late (I swear to god it is not my fault, I am never late if there’s no one else between my destination and me *cough* rents *cough*). Now I’m pretty sure she wants to get rid of me. Which is extremely uncool but it will be okay. I will survive. I still have enough hours to graduate. I have way more than enough. Thus, I will survive. Hopefully… speaking of which, choir conductor is going to kill me cuz I’m not going to the concert tomorrow for volunteering. It’s not that I don’t like choir, I just have issues with the songs that we’re doing. Of all the songs to pick she picks the three african songs. COME ON, you can do Chromatic Fugue(I forget who it’s by but it’s like the most epic acapella song ever), How sweet the sound (henderson), come ye makers of song (henderson), Lake isle of innisfree (daley), freedom trilogy(halley), bist du bie mir (bach), ave maria (mozart), simple gifts (joseph), oliver (the musical), this little babe (britten), psalm 92 and 47 and 23 (glick), city called heaven (poelinitz), las amarillas (hatfield), amen (pergolesi), tomorrow shall be my dancing day (rutter), I’se the by, all these amazing songs but no. She picks bad african music. If she wanted african she could have done freedom trilogy. But no. I think I’m done spazzing about choir.
K so I’m done with surprises.
