A Penny For Your Thoughts

April 6, 2009

The last (and only) time someone said this to me was in Grade 8. We were lining up to leave the building for the fire drill and Yip*, this hilarious asain bowlcut classmate standing in front of me turns around and holds out two pennies and asksĀ  “A penny for your thoughts?”. I must have been thinking really hard about something and all I see are two pennies and knowing me, I take them. He asks again and, unusually, I hand back the two pennies after contemplating about whether I really wanted to tell him what I was thinking. (keep it clean people, I was only in gr 8)

I’ve never forgotten that line. I keep wishing I knew how to use it properly because I never seem to get a chance to. I think before I die, I want to use that phrase at least once. It sounds really nice. Almost fairytale-like. Sigh. Fairy tales eh?

I don’t get how this is fairytale like…But whatever floats your boat.

But you’re never getting any of my thoughts out of me for a penny. What happens if you become a millionaire with my genius’ plan? Not cool.
